Cavan FC Sports Camp

WE ARE BACK! After two amazing summers, we are so excited to say we are ready to go for the summer of 2024. Maple Leaf Soccer is excited to provide an amazing and affordable soccer and sports camp for our community.

Last year we sold out all five weeks. Register early to avoid disappointment.

We are looking forward to having returning campers and we welcome new campers to join in on the fun.

Here is what to expect at the camp.

Fun, fun and more fun, amazing counsellors and volunteers in top notch facilities and a safe environment.

Our camp programs run Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 4:00. We do allow campers to be dropped off after 8:30 for parents who need to get to work. We ask that campers be picked up at 4:00, but we will have staff on site until 4:30 in case you are running a bit late.

We love soccer and want to develop soccer skills so soccer is definitely part of our camp. We will have a morning session of about an hour with soccer skills training and an afternoon session with soccer games. We also realize the importance of having a variety of sports to develop all aspects of our campers. We will have various sports (hockey, dodgeball, basketball etc.), fun games such as Amazing Race and Minute to Win It, small and large group team building games and of course the many back pocket games that have become so popular.

We have the great fortune of running our Camp at Crestwood High School. This means that when it rains out or gets way too hot we have our campers covered. We can explore sports on fields, in gyms and in the many creative ways our counselors have learned to come up with.

The age range for the camp is 6 to 12. However, group kids by their age to make the best experience possible. We realize being with friends is important and will always make every effort to make this possible.

We have top notch Program Directors. Ava Richardson and Bella Bowen will be back as our program directors. Ava will be continuing her soccer journey playing for Nipissing University in the fall while Bella will be playing at Eastern Michigan University. They are so excited to pass on their knowledge. In addition to this we will have a team of counsellors who have incredible sport backgrounds. They are all well versed in various sports including soccer. Their energy and enthusiasm is sure to make for a top notch camp experience. In addition to all this we have provided over 100 students the chance to earn their community volunteer hours for high school.

These are not just any volunteers, these are students who love sports and love working with our campers. We also have an adult site supervisor on site who juggles many aspects of the camp throughout the day ensuring everything runs smoothly. The Camp Team is incredible.

Since Maple Leaf Soccer is a Not for Profit organization, all proceeds of the camp go directly to supporting youth in the community. A few examples of this are our Maple Leaf Soccer high school Bursaries at Crestwood, helping fund student trips and supporting club members with financial needs.

We can’t wait for another successful year.

Camp FAQ | Refund Policy

Camp FAQ

1. Does the camp only focus on soccer?

No, although the focus will be soccer we recognize the importance of providing children the opportunity to explore and learn all fundamental movement skills by playing small-sided games because games teach and are motivational. Campers will play small sided games to expand their soccer skills for about half the day. The remainder of the time will be filled with activities to grow their catching, striking, wheeling, and jumping, like bench ball, baseball, basketball, strikeball, cricket, capture the flag, various relays, ultimate, and other Low Organized Games (LOG’s).

2. Is the camp outdoors all day?

Yes a large chunk of our days will be outdoors on the soccer fields, so come prepared. However, we do have use of the school gymnasiums, cafeteria and classrooms. This is great when we want to focus on indoor activities, in case of rain, or during extreme heat.

3. Will the camp be the same each week?

The general program will be similar each week. Some activities, other than soccer, may change slightly. Our counselors will target soccer activities to the level of the campers.

8:30 – 9:00 Drop Off / Supervised Free Time

4. The camp is for 6 to 12 year olds, will they be together all day?

Some activities may be done as a whole group, however, for most of the day campers will be divided into 6 to 8 year olds and 9 to 12 year olds. However, if the number permits there may be an opportunity for 1 or 2 age range cohort groupings.
